When disasters happen in your vehicle, do you know who to call?

SERVPRO of Butler, Hopkins, Ohio, Muhlenberg & Edmonson Counties are able to assist with taking care of these issues. While we are not typically known for this service, we have the experience of mitigating several issues that owners might come across:

-We have worked with police departments and cleaning biohazard out of their cruisers.

-There was an incident when a fire extinguisher sprayed the inside of a new truck completely white.

-An employee bought a used vehicle, and after the “new car smell” wore off, realized it had been smoked in. With being allergic to the smell, we took care of it for her. We were able to completely mitigate the smell, and months later it still has not resurfaced.

February Theme of the Month, 2019

This month, SERVPRO of Butler, Hopkins, Ohio, Muhlenberg and Edmonson Counties wants to stress how important it is to be proactive and winterize your properties. With February being one of the coldest months of the year, we see a lot of frozen pipes happen. Being proactive is the best way to avoid this being your home or business!

Our marketing representatives are busy handing our hand warmers to their contacts this month, to remind them to always be proactive when it comes to cold weather. While you might not think about having hand warmers on hand, you would appreciate having one when you needed it.

We also want to stress to contacts that during the month of love, we want to make sure to keep things warm between us!

Christmas Party 2018

Every December our owner, David Elkins, holds a party for all the employees to not only celebrate the Christmas season, but also celebrate the year and what all we have accomplished throughout. We have three departments within our franchise, and this is a great time for all the employees to get to know each other without being in a work setting.

We always start the night with prayer and dinner being served, then teambuilding games, and closed with discussion about how the year has gone.

Every company depends on its employees to make things go smoothly. This is why we strive to have the most well trained, highest quality employees around. It also depends on how well our employees get along, and their attitudes about their jobs. This is why it is important for us to get together as a team several times a year and get to know each other. We also want our employees to know how much we appreciate them, and how proud we are of the effort they put into their jobs each day.

When we are working on a water, fire, or mold loss, our goal is to save as many of the previous materials as possible. This means that we also try to recycle these materials as much as we can. This not only saves the home owner or insurance company money, but it also cuts down in the waste that is put in the landfills. With approximately 70% of garbage thrown away being recyclable, it is important that we all find ways to keep as much out of it as possible.

Here are some ways to help reduce waste in your everyday life:

-Use reusable bags while out shopping

5 Tips for Water Losses

At our franchise, about 80% of the jobs we work are to some extent of water damage. In homes and businesses, there are a lot of places where water pipes are exposed. This creates a larger change for problems to occur. Here are some tips on how to minimize the damage caused from a water loss: 

  1. Turn the water source off-

Knowing where your water cut offs are is very important. In an emergency, you want to be able to find the cutoff as quickly as possible and stop the source causing more damage. 

  1. Turn off the electricity- 

Do not ever step into flooded water without first having the electric cut. It can become a very dangerous situation if you forget to do this. 

  1. Get rid of the water-

Getting as much water out of the space as possible is very important. The longer  the water sits, the worse the damage becomes. The longer water sits, the larger the chance of mold growth also becomes. 

  1. Open windows and doors-

Doing this will help release moisture in the air. You can also turn on the fan to help circulate the air in the room. 

  1. Call a professional-

If you have not already contacted a water damage expert, do this immediately. Quickly bringing in a team of trained professionals can lessen the damage caused, while getting an accurate assessment and a plan of action.
